School District of Winter Academic and Career Planning
The School District of Winter is currently developing a more systemic process for creating academic and career plans (ACP) for ALL students. At Winter schools, we are proud to report that we have been doing Academic and Career Planning for several years; we are now combining the efforts of all staff in order to create an ACP process that involves all students, at all levels of schooling.
2024/2025
WSD - Academic and Career Planning Goals
Goal one is to develop and enhance real-world community partnerships between our district and community. We offer things such as youth apprenticeship, internships, guest speakers, etc. We would like to build on this and offer work experiences, job shadowing, and direct connections to businesses in our surrounding community.
Goal two is revisiting the District-wide template to show what we are ALREADY doing in each of our K-12 classrooms that align with career readiness. This is very helpful because we are already doing a lot of great things and we can also use it to identify gaps. This template is already in place, so we will only need to revise it. We will also upload this document to the CBLE Tracker.
Goal three is improving the ACP/Career readiness culture in our district. We will accomplish this by forming the new ACP team, meeting more often with more fidelity. The ACP team consists of Jeff Suralski, Dr. Julie Ray, Alicia Lueloff, Caroline Corbett, Julene Brad, parent representative Sarah Granica, and student representative Arrin Krajenka. Mr. Suralski has worked with CESA-12 to provide professional development resources that align with all three goals and will continue to implement them throughout the year.
